Our teams are broken down into 4 groups: · 
Flag – ages 5 to 7 
Minors – ages 8 & 9  
Juniors – ages 10 & 11  
Seniors – ages 12 to 14

   All coaches must submit to background checks (performed by the Chesterfield County Police Department), and are evaluated each year by our board; not on winning percentage but on quality of character. All of our coaches have received the Concussion Awareness Courses before they are allowed on the field. CDC Heads Up Program

The objective of Powhatan Youth Football is as follows:

   To provide a wholesome, enjoyable experience of playing football for youths from ages 5 to 14 years of age while teaching the basic fundamentals of the game, teamwork, good sportsmanship, discipline and response to leadership. 

   To encourage the players to maintain satisfactory grades in school and to emphasize the importance of keeping a proper relationship and balance between scholastic and athletic endeavors. 

   To provide a satisfying, rewarding experience for coaches, parents, sponsors and those persons administering the program through their relationships in teaching and working with youth. 

   To provide a well-organized and implemented program that is appreciated and favorably received by the parents of the community.
